Summary
The prophet Azariah meets Asa returning from his victory over the Cushites with a timeless message: "Yahweh is with you while you are with him; if you seek him, he will be found." Asa responds with renewed boldness — extending his reforms into captured northern territories, renewing the altar, and gathering all Judah and visiting Israelites for a great covenant assembly. The people swear with shouts and trumpets to seek God with all their heart. Asa even removes his own mother from her position as queen mother for her Asherah worship. God grants 20 more years of peace.

- 2 Chr 15:15 — “They sought him with their whole desire; and he was found by them; and Yahweh gave them rest all around.”

Context & background
Azariah's prophecy describes what Israel had been like during the period of the judges — "without the true God, without a teaching priest, without law" — a state of spiritual chaos that produced physical violence and social breakdown. Asa's removal of his own mother Maacah (who was actually his grandmother; "mother" was the official title for queen mother) was an extraordinary act of impartiality. The Kidron Valley (modern Kidron Valley, between Jerusalem and the Mount of Olives) was the traditional dump for destroyed idols. The covenant assembly's joyful shouting connects to the great worship assemblies of David in 1 Chronicles.
